The Holy Spirit Comes - Acts 2:1-11
After Jesus had been taken into heaven, all the disciples were in one place meeting together. They wondered what Jesus wanted them to do now. They asked each other, “Who is the ‘helper’ Jesus has promised us?” “When will this ‘helper’ come?”
Suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the blowing of a violent wind. The sound filled the whole house.
They then saw what looked like flames of fire resting on each of their heads, but the fire was not burning them.
This was the helper that Jesus had promised. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages that the Spirit gave to them.
People from different countries were in Jerusalem at that time. They heard their own languages being spoken by the disciples and they were all amazed.
The disciples talked about Jesus. All in Jerusalem were able to understand and hear about how Jesus had died and was raised from death to forgive people’s sins and give them the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit comes to each of us to help us understand God’s amazing love.
